Fortune-499 is a game about fortune telling, overworking yourself, and a LOT of roshambo (roshambo is short for rock paper scissors, I'm just using slang chat). The game took me 3 hours to beat, and I was thouroughly engrosed the entire time. I kept thinking the gimmick would get old, but the developer managed to keep it from going stale with new cards and abilities.

Despite it's simplicity, the art is quite charming. If I had to offer a criticism, I would say that some of the dialog tends to drag on. That's probably my ooga booga gotta go fast brain getting in the way, though.

Some of the puzzles were also a bit annoying, including the summoner puzzle, which I had to look up online. However, despite these criticisms, the game is a positive experience overall.

This is definitely one of the better small indie games out there, 5/5. If you're wondering why I'm not taking points off for it's short runtime, it's because I've lowered my expectations. I would go back and change my review for A Short Hike, it would be changed to 5/5, however, I want these to be a record of my initial thoughts upon playing, not my thoughts after a year or so.
